![]() ![]() Just realize it’s going through a huge “upgrade” currently so your expectations can be appropriately managed. Still a good resource and an excellent timer. Except of course that they couldn’t be easily monetized. Now claim it was all an “experiment” that will be used to improve the original groups, which of course needed no improvement. Given the large number of people who… um… disliked them, they finally threw in the towel. They started something called Circles - Twitter like stream-of-consciousness clusters with no continuity or connectivity. They shut down the Help forum for being “too negative” and started undermining long standing group communities. ![]() Christopher et al did a great job at first but then, slowly, the app became more and more commercialized.Įventually they stopped interacting with the community and became more distant. The original dev kind of let it drift and eventually sold it to the new owners. ![]() I’ve been on IT for 11 years and was a mod there for some time. Headspace might have better aesthetics/design and is a household name at this point, but Insight Timer seems like it's got a lot more going for it Headspace still has a place in my daily routine - I like their nature soundscapes and focus music - but, truth be told, if I didn't have that student discount, I wouldn't even bother, because I honestly couldn't bring myself to pay $70 a year (or worse, $13 a month) for it. This alone puts it above Headspace, and I'm looking forward to trying their guided meditations I also like that it'll keep going after the timer has gone off - yesterday I started ten minute session, but decided to meditate for another six minutes on top of that. I went straight to the timer before anything else and instantly fell in love with just how much you can tailor a session to your liking (and save different presets too). I saw a user on here mention Insight Timer, and decided to download it last night. I like the semi-guided and unguided options, but the times aren't very flexible, and the app doesn't count if you meditate beyond your session And while I don't want to sit here and pretend it's been awful - I've enjoyed it a lot, in fact, and credit it with helping make meditation a daily part of my routine - I've always wondered why they didn't have more customizable mediation sessions. I've been using Headspace for years, mostly because it was the only app I knew and the student discount is great ($10 for a full year). Meditation Pics - for meditation-related images.
